National Air Carrier Association was founded in 1962 and provides vital links between Congress, executive agencies, and its airline members.  Our mission is to improve communications, promote fair regulations, advance global aviation interests, and ensure the industry’s continued priorities concerning operational safety and efficiency.

Councils

NACA has three member councils, which focus on various aspects of airlines' operations in order to provide members with a forum for their professional staff.  Each council meets at NACA's office four times a year.  Please click on the council links below for information and documents listed by council meeting date.  Click on the Upcoming Events link on the left side of this page for the current year's Council meeting schedule.

  • Maintenance Council

The NACA Maintenance Council consists of the management of each member's maintenance organization. The Council deals with a variety of issues that shape the way airlines do business. Meetings usually include:

    • Presentations by, and discussions with, government officials on regulatory and industry policy issues
    • Discussions and updates on aviation rulemaking advisory groups whose purpose is to assist the Federal Aviation Administration in the development of regulatory standards
    • Discussions and experience sharing on issues of common concern to our members
  • Operations Council

The NACA Operations Council is functionally similar to the Maintenance Council.  Attended by members' vice presidents for operations or their management staff representatives, the Council receives presentations from government and industry representatives; discusses current operational and regulatory issues; and recommends formal positions to the NACA Board of Directors.

  • Safety and Security Council

The NACA Safety and Security Council provides a forum for the safety and security management staff to exchange ideas and solutions to various safety and security related issues that affect the health of their airlines.  Council meetings typically include:

    • Presentations of services and products that may be of interest to members
    • Presentations by, and discussions with, invited government guest speakers
    • Exchange of information relating to accident/incident root cause analysis
    • Development of audit and evaluation tools
